The Celebrating Greyhounds Calendar is filled with photos (taken by adopters) of adopted retired racing Greyhounds placed by adoption groups around the country and parts of the world.  The calendar illustrates the qualities of Greyhounds as companions and pets in their "second career." The following information was taken from: Celebrating Greyhounds the Magazine, Vol. 6; No. 4, Winter 2001.  It outlines hints and guidelines to give your Greyhound photos the best chance to stand out and possibly be picked for publication in the Celebrating Greyhounds Calendar. The Greyhound Project collects adopter's Greyhound photos all year long, but by the end of April, the selection process starts for the up coming calendar. The Greyhound Project is always looking for photos that are a little bit different.  Pictures that capture the personality of the individual Greyhound(s) and the versatility of the breed. Photo Submittal Requirements: -------------------------------- - Photos must be in focus.  The Greyhound Project will not retouch photos! - Photo subjects should not have white, red or green-eyes.  The Greyhound Project will not retouch photos! - Photos should not be over exposed, washed out or under exposed and very dark.  The Greyhound Project will not retouch photos! - You MUST place an adhesive label on the back of each photo and PRINT all of the required information (listed below) on this label.  Do NOT write on the back of a photo with any kind of pen or pencil! - Place a label on the back of every single photo and PRINT the following info: your name, address, email address, the names of all Greyhounds in the photo, the names of all people in the photo, the name of the adoption group, track, kennel, or breeder from which the Greyhound(s) in the photo were adopted. - You MUST get written permission to submit a photo, from all people who happen to be in the photo. - If you did not take the photo yourself, you MUST get the written permission of the photographer for the photo to be considered. Digital Photo Submittal Requirements: ---------------------------------------- All of the above photo submittal requirements apply to digital photos, as well as the following: - All digital photos must be taken at the highest resolution possible on your digital camera.  These high resolution images produce huge files.  You can expect a high resolution image to be at least 1.5 Megs or larger. - You MUST have each digital image professionally printed on quality photographic paper.  Do NOT print a digital photo out on a home printer!  Most of the major film manufacturers such as Kodak and Fugi offer this inexpensive service as well as many retail camera stores and most Walgreens stores. - You MUST place an adhesive label on the back of each digital photo which has been professionally printed, with the following: please PRINT, the name of the digital image file (on the CD), your name, address, email address, the names of all Greyhounds in the photo, the names of all people in the photo, the name of the adoption group, track, kennel, or breeder from which the Greyhound(s) in the photo were adopted. - Please send a CD which contains each digital image you have had professionally printed.  Place a label on the CD cover and PRINT: the name of the digital image file, your name, address, email address, the names of all Greyhounds in the photo, the names of all people in the photo, the name of the adoption group, track, kennel, or breeder from which the Greyhound(s) in the photo were adopted. In general, The Greyhound Project is not wild about receiving posed studio photos, but if you have a really good one that you love, then send it.  Remember, if you did not take the photo yourself, you MUST get the written permission of the photographer for the photo to be considered.
