In Remembrance of Phillip Strong,
a Friend and Dedicated Recycled Racers Volunteer

Phillip, Cooper and Crow. Phillip Strong, an active Greyhound volunteer for Recycled Racers, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the age of 55.  He was diagnosed with non-operable cancer in early November of 2004.  He fought valiantly against the disease until the end.

Phillip was a knowledgeable Greyhound Meet-n-Greet volunteer who was fun to work with.  He had a great sense of humor, and he loved Greyhounds; especially his three: Crow (who passed away in August of 2004), Cooper (who passed away in October of 2006) and Mighty Dog.

He, his wife René and his young son Matt hosted the monthly Greyhound Meet-n-Greet at the Aurora Petco store located at Buckley & Quincy.  Phillip, René, Matt and the other regular Meet-n-Greet volunteers and their hounds tirelessly helped promote Recycled Racers and Greyhound adoption.  He and his group of volunteers are directly responsible for many new adoptions.

He will be remembered as a loving father to sons Stephen and Matthew, an 8 year veteran of the US Navy, a Corvette car collector and club member, a member of the Masons and as a true friend of Greyhounds in need of homes.  The Recycled Racers staff and all of the members and volunteers who were lucky to know Phillip will miss his strong spirit, dedication and smile.  We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with and playing with his beloved Greyhound Crow and Cooper across the Rainbow Bridge.

Phillip was buried at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on January 10, 2005.  Full military honors were rendered by the United States Navy.

Rest now Phillip. You are loved and greatly missed.

René has requested that memorial donations be sent to Recycled Racers, since their mutual love of these special hounds brought them closer and gave them such joy.
