In Loving Memory of

GS Sammy (Sammy)     6/29/99 – 9/07/07

It is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of GS Sammy.  Sammy was born in June 29, 1999 and passed away on Sept 7, 2007.  He entered our lives in August of 2003 when we picked him up from Recycled Racers.  He was picked out special for us by Sandy, and was a perfect match.

Sammy was a very happy and loving dog who really enjoyed his retirement.  He quickly got used to life without a crate and realized that the couch was the absolute best place on earth.  The only place better than the couch was the dog bed in front of the fireplace on a cold winter's night.  He would lay in front of the fire until he got so hot that he was forced to pant.  Eventually even panting was not enough, and with a great sigh he would lift himself up and go get a drink of cold water.  Sammy would then return to lay off to the side of the fire.  Of course in about 10 minutes the entire process would be repeated.  Sometimes he would have to re-nest the bed to perfection before laying down again.

Sammy's passing was a very sudden and unexpected event.  The vet believes that he might of had a spleanic torsion.  From the time when he first started showing symptoms, to the time he passed away was only 4 hours.

Thank you to Recycled Racers for introducing us to Sammy.
