| In Loving Memory of
Coop's Caching (Cooper) 12/14/98 – 10/03/06 |

|
At first, we tried calling him Caching but he did not respond. Then, we tried to think up a name entirely unrelated to his racing name. That
didn't work either. Nothing fit. Then we discovered that the "Coop's" part of his racing name stood for R. Cooper, his owner. That was it,
he became our dear, sweet, gentle, lovable Cooper. He responded immediately to Cooper or Coop for short. He put up with my baby-talk when I called
him "My Coopie" and when he whined too much, I called him "Cry Baby Coop".
Early on, we discovered one reason he was such an awesome racer. When I took the above picture of Cooper "stalking" a squirrel in our backyard tree, he had such incredible concentration and focus and never wavered or moved a muscle for a very long time. That gave me the opportunity to run into the house, retrieve my camera, and run back to snap this photo. Coop was never once distracted by noise or my movements. He totally dazzled us when he was in the mood to play. He could play ball by himself by tossing the ball up in the air and then jumping up to catch it. Cooper jumped so high that his back legs totally came up several inches off the ground. We cheered him on! He could have been a catcher for the Colorado Rockies, he was so good. Cooper's aim was 99% true. Cooper was retired early due to an injury. But before we adopted him, he sired 12 offspring by 2 dams. He sired 4 offspring by Murphy's Pride and 7 offspring by Shylo Feisty. Unfortunately, the 12th offspring -- don't know by which dam -- passed away during training. We had the wonderful opportunity to visit the "greyhound farm" and take Cooper with us to see his offspring. But Coop was not nearly as excited. He was totally dismayed at all those wild and untrained puppy greyhounds. The look on his face said in all seriousness, "I demand a paternity test!" When Cooper's owner asked us what she should name his offspring for racing, I immediately said that she should name them after their father. That is exactly what she did. All of his offspring by Shylo Fiesty have Coop's preceding their names. However, there was one who is the spitting image of his father, Coop's Hakiv. My husband, Phillip, spotted him immediately and dubbed him, Coop Junior. Our Cooper was first and foremost known as a real sweetheart with a gentle, loving disposition. He will be missed for years to come, but my hope is for Coop to reunite with his buddy, TV Crow and my husband, Phillip. May they all be playing together with joy and laughter at the Rainbow Bridge.
