In Loving Memory of

Aquila Billybump (Duke)     5/5/91 – 6/17/05

Duke was 10 years old when he was returned to Recycled Racers because his owners had divorced and neither wanted him anymore.  My husband Gene and I agreed to foster Duke until he could be placed.  Of course, after a few days in our home we could not let him go and we ended up adopting sweet old Duke.

Duke was calm, sweet, comical and so lovable.  It is hard to believe how his original owners could have let him go.  He was handsome, house broken, quiet and he loved everyone he met, including cats, small animals and children.  We will always remember how Duke would smile, showing his front teeth and how he loved to romp in fresh snow with our other Greyhounds.  Duke lived a few months past his 14th birthday and we loved every day with him.

I would totally encourage new adopters to think about adopting an older Greyhound if one is available.  Senior Greyhounds are truly the best kept secret of Greyhound adoption.

We will never forget Duke, a.k.a. Hubba Bubba.  Duke joins his house mate Barney and his brother Dare at the Rainbow Bridge.  Good bye sweet Duke.
