| In Loving Memory of
EC Shirley (Shirley) 6/01/93 - 8/30/04 |

EC Shirley was an AA Racer at first but she stayed at the farm to teach the young Greyhounds how to run and play. Shirley
was Mrs. Weber's (Greyhound breeder and kennel owner) best girl and the Queen of the Webber Kennel. When it was time for
adoption Shirley was a good match for me and my other Greyhound, Buzz Away (or "The Buzz" as I call him).
Shirley was a very loving dog. She was a snuggler to one and all. She touched our hearts from the first day we saw her. Shirley was 8 years old when she came into our lives. Most adopters were looking for a younger Greyhound so The Buzz and I decided to give her a try since she had been at the Recycled Racers adoption kennel a while. Sandy, the Recycled Racers Adoption Coordinator, said she was a very special girl and Toni from the adoption kennel, said she was one of her favorites. The Buzz and I took her into our home and hearts and she was with us for three lovely years. Shirley loved to spin around when she sat down. Hence we called her Shirl, Twirl and Shirl Girl. Shirley loved me and especially her Daddy Lee. She also loved Lee's children, Lee and Jordyn and also Lee's Mother, Patricia. Shirley would greet us all at the front door or through the back with The Buzz. She would bounce and jump on her hind legs like a kangaroo until you kissed her nose. She also loved to play with the children, her toys and she especially loved to play through the night. Shirley loved to trick The Buzz into coming downstairs to see what she was barking about. It was usually nothing, just Shirley playing tricks on The Buzz. She loved walks, car rides, and Saturday trips to the Greyhound track to promote Greyhound adoption. Shirley was a wonderful Meet & Greet "Ambassadog" and was a very proud and regal Greyhound. Her favorite outing was the Annual Greyhound Adopter's Reunion Picnic. She loved to dress up for the Greyhound costume contest. Shirley loved to see Sandy, Devon (Sandy's son), Toni and Marnie (from the adoption kennel), Bill, Karen, Trena and Debbie (from the office) each year. Shirley's arthritis stopped her sleeping through the night quite some time ago. Daddy Lee would comfort her when she was restless. Eventually Shirley stopped meeting us at the door and stopped getting up for the most part. Shirley's right front paw ached for several months and she became increasingly tired from hopping on three legs. Soon the medicine didn't help her at all. Our beloved Shirley was put to rest on August 30, 2004. She is pain-free now, running and playing again and probably ahead of them all. We miss Shirley very much. She is alive in our hearts and is home now with Grandpa Les. We take comfort in knowing she is with my Daddy and she is not in pain anymore. We will be with Shirley again one day.
