Rompen Reta (Hope) 4/25/95 - 8/20/03 |

Hope came into my life when everything was bleak. Her youthful exuberance was catchy and her antics kept me laughing.
She had a gentle side as well which became evident wherever we went. She was adopted as the mascot of our AARP-Chapter where her good behavior made friends for all Greyhounds. Hope also loved visiting a local elementary school and tolerated, ever so patiently, the exploring hands of first graders. Her true nature of compassion became obvious when she went with me to a cancer support group where she greeted everyone with a silly grin and a wag of her tail. Hope approached newly diagnosed cancer patients differently, however. She let them acknowledge her by patting her head, then would gently place her head on their shoulders for reassurance, letting them know that everything would be all right. How ironic that Hope, too, would develop cancer... You fought a good fight, Hope, and you will be in my heart always.
